Rebound Chapter 9: Birds and Trees

   "laa2 la2 laish the tear! 7beebti intay don't cry.. maby ashof dam3a thanya... don't make me get up w ayelch" His heart ached when he saw her tear. She can't cry. "LAAA2!!" she shouted back before realizing it was a bit too loud. " laa2 dont get up! you'll hurt yourself! bs i wont cry.." Her voice was so soft and low. She tried so hard to keep her tears from forming. She didnt want him moving one inch. She didnt know what was wrong with him bs matbe he moves. 5ayfa ina any movement would cause him pain.

   "Thats my girl... ta3alay please, walla i've missed you, 5al ntkalam maby ng3ad cthe za3laneen 3la ba3ath.. it hurts me to see you chthe.." He tried lifting himself up but his chest was too painful. His face was expressing his pain but he didn't say anything. She quickly ran by his side and held him so he could support himself and sit up properly. She couldn't take it more. Her tears were running down her face freely now. She was worried, she didn't know what happened and why he is in the hospital.

   She felt bad. She felt guilty. How could she think 7amad didn't want to see her. She knew he isn't that type of guy bs he hurt her. She was hurt because of what she heard and she thought it as true and the only thing that made sense to her was that he wanted to avoid explaining anything to her because it was all true.

   He turned his head and so all the tears on her face. " laish laish?? mu glna mako crying?? Razan please stop shfech tabchen? ma a7b ashof dam3a tanzl mn 3ainch!" It was killing him knowing that he was the reason for her tears. He knew she was hurt because of him and her seeing him like this now wasn't helping. But it wasn't what it seemed. He wasn't using her.

   She sat down and hid her face on his lap and cried some more. He didn't say anything. 7amad let her cry 3shan trta7 shway w t'hda so they can discuss things. He was playing with her hair. Wrapping strands of her hair around his finger. Lama she stopped crying and calmed down 7amad slowly pulled her hair away from her face and stroked the side of her face. " 7beebti look at me.. please rf3ay rasch w look at me walla ga6a3tay galby.."

   She did as she was told and lifted her head to look at him. She saw pain and guilt in his eyes. But it was the kind of guilt that showed her he was upset at himself for putting her through this. " Why didn't you tell me inek bl mustashfa.. laish inta w Aseel lied to me?" She spoke with so much pain in her voice.

   "Because i knew that was how you would react awal ma you find out and i don't want you crying and worrying la2na im fine w im just here as precaution w ilyoum ba6la3." He tried to explain to her somehow instead of staying calm she was mad. "FIINNE?? you are NOT fine! ! You have a broken leg you chest is all wrapped up! you have STITCHES on you face and  HUGE ASS BRUISE ON YOUR FOREHEAD! that is not finne!" How could he call himself fine! has he even seen himself in the mirror!! 

   She was breathing heavily now and was very mad! "a9lan from when have you been here?" He looked at her not wanting to answer because she is going to flip out even more. "Min ams il9ub7 bs im fine em5aleeni as precaution bs to make sure nothing goes wrong.. shfech Razan laish kil hal 7chy walla im fine babe.." He tried reassuring her but it wasn't working.

   "Min ams!!  w Aseel tadry wla galat!! uurrgghh!!" She punched his thigh.. She thought it was a hard one but she wasn't very physically strong so he wasn't hurt but he decided to tease her shway. "Ouucch! al7en ana mt3awr w et6geeni! al7en shlon they discharge me if they notice something new hurting??" Her eyes widened. Did she really hurt him. " Haa?? I'm sorryy! i didn't mean it walla bs narfaztoony"

   "Hehehe you didn't hurt me ga3d a6afrech" She smiled at him realizing he was making a fool out of her. Suddenly she stood up. She remembered ina mu mafroth tg3ad th7ak she was still mad at him. She still needed her explanation. In her head he still lied to her about things. She took a few steps back. He was looking at her. Wrinkles formed on his forehead as he was looking at her confused at the sudden cahnge. Faj2a she stood up he didn't understand. "Shfeech??"

   "Why did you lie to me 7amad? Laish chthe swait? 9j you were using me to get over...her? I need an explanation.. aby a3arf the truth please." She was hurting all over again. She remembered the day she went to him and was mad and crying. How she suddenly hated him and couldn't stand the site of him. She doesnt hate him now bl3aks al7en 3rfat ina t7ba and that will never change but she still needed the truth.

   " Inzain laish r7tay b3eed ta3alay rday g3day 5al ntkalam.. Walla im going to honest with everything and you'll know that i wasn't lying and everything you heard is not true.. intay bs come back here and sit down" 7amad wanted her to sit down 3shan he looks her in they eye w ywglaha kilshay. 3shan tadry ina uhwa ga3d ygwlaha il9j. If she saw in his eyes that everyting he was saying was genuine she would understand.

   She went back to her where she was sitting and looked at him. She was terrified of what 7amad would be saying. What if it was true, what then? what is she suppose to do. 7amad began speaking and asked her not to say anything laima he finished. He wanted to explain everything, from to a to z, without leaving one single detail out. He told her about Jenna, about everything from how he met her and how much he loved her and that he was going to speak to his mom 3shan ya5a6bonha.

   With every word he spoke Razan's heart slowly began to break into pieces. It was awful listening to the person you love speak about someone he once loved. She saw it in his eyes, he really loved this Jenna.

   He explained everything to the last conversation they had and when he broke it off. She was looking away. Staring out the window as he was explaining things. She noticed how bright the sun was and how the trees were a gorgeous shade of green. She saw a tiny bird jumping around the tree branch. It look extremely happy. She wished that she could fly.

   Razan wondered about how the sky was like up there. Where the birds fly. A place where they were free and could fly and twist and turn. A happy place without limits. She wanted to fly. The bird jumped of the branch and flew up into the sky. She wanted to fly with that bird.

   She was listening to every word 7amad was saying but she couldn't look at him while he talks about his ex girlfriend that once upon a time he loved dearly. She looked back into 7amads eyes. He stopped talking. He said everything he needed to say about Jenna and how much she hurt him.

   "3 months after i broke up with Jenna i was still miserable. The guyz tried everything they could come up to help me get over her. Dont get me wrong i did but i was still hurting ya3ny it was a long time. They tried fixing me up on dates and hooking me up with girls but i wouldn't let them. Being with tonnes of girls won't help me. It's not right. Fa marra we were sitting in the cafe by the university and you passed by. I was in the middle of a conversation when i just froze and stopped talking. My eyes followed you. They couldn't stop looking at you. You were beautiful, stunning. Something about you was pulling me in."

   He stopped for a second and laughed. " ilshabab shafaw how i was looking at you w shlon faj2a i stopped everything and my eyes followed you until you were out of site w g3daw yth7kon 3laiy.. wla mara 9ar feeni chthe, 7tan with Jenna.."

   Razan couldn't help but smile at what he just said. She never knew that. That she did that to him. He really loves her. She knows it now. She just saw it in his eyes. "Inzain kaml..." So he did. He started explaining that the guys began teasing him trying to convince him to ask her out. 7amad told them it was ridiculous, why would he ask someone out who isn't even arabic why go there and that he didn't want to be dating. He is over Jenna, he doesn't need to be with another girl to forget her.

   "Bs i couldn't stop thinking about you madry laish, i just kept thinking about who you are, where you're from, everything i couldn't stop thinking." He held her hand and squeezed it.

   "Inzain ya3ny the guyz eventually pushed to into asking me out after they found out ini kwaitiya?" She was scared, she almost told him not to answer it but he already opened his mouth to speak. "6ab3an la2 Razan.. That day i bumped into you bl library knt laima al7en ma adry mno intay bs lama 6a7aw your books sma3tch tgwlen shay bl 3araby w staw3abt inch kwaitiya w esta'3rabt la2na ma7ad kan yadry inech kwaitiya w don't even look arabic."

   She felt a bit relieved even though it didn't explain anything bs ham she was relieved somehow. "Ok so umm... what next 7amad.. laima al7en ma fahamt laish Nasser would say those things 7amad"

   He sighed and looked at her. " aaa55 3la Nasser allah ysam7a bs.." he was about to continue when the doctor walked in to check up on 7amad. "Razan babe please can you wait outside 3ala ma y5al9 b3dain enkaml?" She nodded and got up. He pulled her back and planted a soft kiss on her hand and smiled at her and made her way out.
